Straits Times Index stocks

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT STOCKS MARKETS THIS WEEK?

Dear readers, it is time to take stock of the stock markets this week (7  Feb to 11 Feb 2022).

As usual, I believe all eyes of investors are still on the US stock markets, given the recent volatility and uncertainty. The three major US stock indices retreated further for the week: Dow Jones, S&P 500 and NASDAQ Composite went south respectively by 1.43%, 1.90% and 2.78%. For this week, Dow Jones, S&P 500 and NASDAQ Composite has gone south respectively by 1.05%, 1.93% and 2.32%.

The volatility of the stock markets was mainly due to concerns over the US Federal Reserves’ interest rates hikes as well as the geo-political tensions over Ukraine.

Singapore stocks have generally shrugged off the macro concerns, powering up such that there are currently six overbought Straits Times Index (STI) stocks. If readers would want to find out which stock markets are currently still undervalued (and may be considered cheap by some), please find my sharing right here on this post.

Further, beyond the STI stable of stocks, I have highlighted one Singapore stock that has charged up by 12% this week. What is this Singapore stock? Find out the name of this Singapore stock right here.

This week was also one where the $19.42 million dollars HongBao TOTO draw prize were dished out to 8 lucky shares, find out my analysis of the TOTO draw right here.

For some readers, strategies to reap higher savings may be their interest, rather than TOTO, in this case, they may be interested in the March 2022 Singapore Savings Bonds for reasons I shared here.

Finally, more and more instances of cost of living going up beyond what I have previously shared here and I am not just talking about the expected GST increase. Cost of living seems to really go up as per what I have shared here; along with price increase of Rich and Good cakes as well as taxi fare price increases.

With all of us still fighting Covid-19, with cost of living generally living, I would really encourage everyone to really focus on living simple and healthy lives. Spend on needs rather than wants. Focus on the simpler joy of lives and always be Grateful.

Have a Good week ahead!
