Dear readers, after the start of a brand new year almost 3 weeks ago, I find myself settled in the tempo of work, after November and December last year when tempo for work last year has quieted down.
Whether or not, this tempo will define the tempo for the rest of 2024, I do not know. I only know that the tempo of work for me has only intensified: I am given additional responsibilities, but in case you are asking whether additional responsibilities means additional income, the answer is no and to me, this is ok. In work, I am focused on tasks being assigned to me and always believe that there are learning opportunities behind each and every task assigned.
Given the above backdrop for the start of the year, it is no surprise that more overtime work become part of my daily itinerary. I am not complaining at all as I have been through quite “a lot” in my career, been through very challenging assignments and tasks and always see work, especially those challenging one, as opportunities to stretch myself further.
Working and working, it suddenly dawns on me that Chinese New Year is just around the corner, in two weeks time! It is time to get started: preparing for Chinese New Year, be it doing some personal grooming for myself, doing some spring cleaning, exchanging for new notes for new Ang Bao, there are actually quite a fair bit of things to do.
And this is why, to start off preparations, I have applied some leaves from work: but one thing is sure, I will still be checking in my email to clear work to reduce email clutter even on leaves!
If you have not started Chinese New Year preparations (if this is applicable to you), I would suggest to start preparations now: it is only timely now! I still recalled there was one year that I found myself scrambling to get some notes for Ang Baos from ATMS just one or two days before Chinese New Year!
