Dear readers, I have been reading more ever since spending more time at home in the post Covid-19 normal. I will encourage all of you to make use of this time when we are at home more to explore new hobbies and new passions. It need not be reading books like what I do, though if you are a reader, it is definitely a welcome.
Recently, I chanced upon a book which is all about career and life and how to make the best of them. There are two salient points which I have taken away from the book so far (I have not done completing the book). The two salient points are about decisions for your career and your life and they are in the form of two questions as below.
Are you designing your Life around your career? Or
Are you designing your Career around your life?
For me, the ideal will be for us to design our Career around our lives. Let’s face it, our lives are much bigger than our career. And as the saying goes, YOLO (You Only Live Once). Hence, we should design our careers, as far as practicable around our lives so that we have time off our career to pursue all our passions, hobbies and to take on different roles in our lives.
