Well, before we dive deep into an estimated interest rate for the Dec 23 Singapore Savings Bond, let us take a look at the average 10-year interest rates of recent tranches of the Singapore Savings Bonds as follows.
Jan-23 3.26% per annum
Feb-23 2.97% per annum
Mar-23 2.90% per annum
Apr-23 3.15% per annum
May-23 3.07% per annum
Jun-23 2.81% per annum
Jul-23: 2.82% per annum
Aug-23: 2.99% per annum
Sep-23: 3.06% per annum
Oct-23: 3.16% per annum
Nov-23: 3.32% per annum
The average 10-year interest rates of Singapore Savings Bond has been increasing from Jun 23 Savings Bond to Nov 23 Savings Bond.
Will the average 10-year interest rate of Dec 23 Singapore Savings Bonds continue the upward trend, to increase beyond the 3.32% per annum interest rate of Nov 23 bonds?
Well, while that is likely, it is noteworthy to note that the cut-off yield (interest rate) of the recent 6-month T-bill has already shown a decline.
The cut-off yield (read as interest rate per annum) of T-bill BS23120A was 3.87% per annum and this is lower than the cut-off yield of 4.07% of BS23119H, the T-bill prior to BS23120A.
Hence I believe there could be a slight decline in the average 10-year interest rate of December 2023 Singapore Savings Bonds (SBDEC23 GX23120Z) as well to a possible 3.10% to 3.20% per annum.
