DEC 23 SINGAPORE SAVINGS BONDS (GX23120Z SBDEC23): APPLICATIONS OPEN NEXT WEEK!

Dear readers, the Dec 23 Singapore Savings Bonds (SBDec23) is expected to open for application next week.

The current tranche of Nov 23 Singapore Savings Bonds (SBNov23) provided savers with 3.32% per annum interest rates, on average for 10-years. In general, I believe savers welcome the move, judging from the oversubscription of 20% for the Nov 23 Singapore Savings Bonds.

The recent 10-year average interest rates of recent Singapore Savings Bonds are below.

Sep-23: 3.06% per annum

Oct-23: 3.16% per annum

Nov-23: 3.32% per annum

Can the Dec 23 Singapore Savings Bonds continue the upward trend of interest rates returns?

The cut-off yield (interest rate) of the recent 6-month T-bill has already shown a decline. Specifically, the cut-off yield (read as interest rate per annum) of T-bill BS23120A was 3.87% per annum and this is lower than the cut-off yield of 4.07% of BS23119H, the T-bill prior to BS23120A.

Given the above, the average 10-year interest rate of December 2023 Singapore Savings Bonds (SBDEC23 GX23120Z) may dip to a possible 3.10% to 3.20% per annum, in my opinion.
