Dear readers, on 26 Jul 21, I shared a post on my thoughts of whether we should consider cash incentives to get the 200,000 Senior Citizens vaccinated against Covid-19. I suggested in the post that there could be a $50 cash or contribution to the CPF accounts or all seniors who have been vaccinated including for previous batches of seniors who have taken up the vaccination. My suggestion came amidst the slow takeup rate of vaccination by seniors.
Just yesterday, the rollout of a programme ““let’s get our seniors vaccinated” programme” was announced. Under the programme, individuals who refer seniors for Covid-19 vaccination will get $30 e-vouchers. As of last Thursday 12 Aug 21, more than 115,000 people aged 60 and above have not been vaccinated.
I am pleased to know of the above programme because the programme is really the carrot approach to have this group of seniors take up vaccination if they have not been taking up the encouragement to be vaccinated. Unvaccinated Seniors will be at risk of developing complications if they contract Covid-19.
If you know of any senior who has not been vaccinated, you can visit this HPB webpage on details of how to refer the senor to be vaccinated and get $30 vouchers at the same time. Of course, I know your main aim of having the senior go for vaccination arises from love and concern for the senior rather than just getting the $30 vouchers!
