Dear readers, let us take a look at the Straits Times Index (STI) stocks which were the best and worst performers for the previous trading week (as at 25 Jun 2021).
The best STI performers and their weekly gains are:
Keppel Corporation stock: 5.06%
Ascendas Reit: 1.71%
Mapletree Logistics Trust: 1.48%
SGX stock: 1%
Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Holdings stock: 0.72%
The worst STI performers and their weekly losses are:
Wilmar International stock: -2.17%
Genting Singapore stock: -2.26%
Sembcorp Industries stock: -2.31%
Thai Beverages stock: -3.52%
Hongkong Land Holdings stock: -4.37%
It is very obvious that Keppel Corporation stock gained the most arising from the announcement last week of the proposed merger of its offshore and marine with Sembcorp Marine.
Going forward, nothing significant to move the markets higher for now. To me, all it takes is for the resurfacing of some news of inflation, interest rate hikes to send the broader stocks markets lower.
