Dear readers, these few months, due to the easing of the Covid-19 restrictions, I was, like many other office workers returning back to office more often. Within my office, there were different installations and hence I have at times gone from one office to the another.
I went back to my office HQ and was totally shocked at this.
Shocked at what?
Seeing my big boss?
Seeing my office workstation in a mess?
No.
I went out during lunch with my colleagues to a staff canteen. I ordered a bowl of fish soup and rice and when the bill came, I was shocked!
The meal cost me $5.80!
I was simply shocked since before Covid-19, such meal at most cost $4, now $5.80! And we are not talking about having a meal in uptown Orchard Road or in the city but a humble staff canteen.
How can this be a staff canteen with this astronomical price of a fish soup and rice!
Well, this is really another case of me experiencing increases in prices of food and basic necessities, so much so I have kept blogging it to the effect that a new category of blog posts called “Cost of Living” has come out from my blog here.
And I think I have been blogging so much about the increasing prices of items here that some readers may scold me for neglecting to blog about stocks and wealth creation here.
Haiz, when even a economical meal cost $5 and is no longer economical, sometime I settled down for a McDonalds meal at a simple $5 as at the very least, the meal comes with a sandwich, fries and drink.
It beats the fish soup and rice anytime!
