STRAITS TIMES INDEX (STI) STOCKS: BEST AND WORST PERFORMERS FOR WEEK

Dear readers, it is time once again to take a look at the best and worst Straits Times Index (STI) performers for the week ended 12 Mar 2021.

The worst three performing STI stocks, with their weekly gains are as follows:

1) Mapletree Logistics Trust -1.10%

2) Mapletree Industrial Trust -1.15%

3) Keppel DC Reit -4.12%

As shared in an earlier post, with the US yield, interest rate and USD dollar increasing or gaining strength, Reits and Trusts are at a disadvantage since the cost of debt for these equities increases too. For Keppel DC Reit, the current stock price of $2.56 is nearly 20% down its 52-week high of $3.16!

Now, let us take a look at the top three best performing STI stocks and they are none other than:

1) Jardine Matheson Holdings +21.07%

2) Jardine Strategic Holdings +20.40%

3) Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Holdings +11.11%

It is inevitable that the top two spots went to the Jardine family of stocks that have been grabbing headlines recently due to acquisition news of Jardine Strategic Holdings (JSH) and from what I have read, investors are clearly thinking that the offer price for JSH stock should have been much more!

That’s it for my insights today.  I Thank you once again for your support of SG STOCKS INVESTING, your Money and Lifestyle magazine! Connect with me here to follow the daily exciting and useful posts on these two blogs, Thank You for your support!
