Dear readers, Singapore Turf Club closed permanently on 5 October 2024 (i.e. yesterday). I made my first visit to Singapore Turf Club yesterday before I would never have a chance to visit it again.
My visit to Singapore Turf Club was hence my first and final visit.
The video below were some of the sights which I witnessed on the final day of Singapore Turf Club, as part of a final chapter in Singapore’s horseracing history.
Until my visit to Singapore Turf Club, I would never have imagined Singapore has such a vibrant horse-racing scene. The horses and greenery, relaxed atmosphere at Singapore Turf Club makes for a good respite for Singaporeans when they are stressed out.
It is a pity that Singapore Turf Club has to go, along with the many historical landmarks which have to make way for redevelopment.
But change is always constant and we will just have to accept it. Especially in land-scare Singapore, I believe we will need continuous rethink on how better to make use of our limited land.
