Dear readers, in today’s The Straits Times, there was an article which featured the boss of SpringLeaf Prata Place talking about how the company has faced a perennial struggle in finding suitable kitchen employees despite efforts to recruit local staff.
In the article, it was mentioned that the potential hires he came across prefer to be waiters or kitchen assistant in the restaurants, despite him offering Singaporeans a starting pay of $4,000 to $4,500 to make roti prata with training provided.
When I read about the aforementioned pay, I thought that this is really a good starting pay which parallels that of the starting pay of graduates. A starting pay of $4,000 to $4,500 for SpringLeaf Prata Place Roti Prata makers means that as years go, the prata makers are likely to receive higher salaries.
Recently, I also overheard about how a food delivery rider can earn around $12,000 in a month which is really a good salary too!
