Dear readers, I was in the city today at a place which I frequent.
I decided to go to the coffee shop where I like to buy a cup of coffee.
I was surprised that the coffee shop has undergone a renovation and it then dawned on me that it has been some time since I came to the coffee shop.
Like other stalls, the drink stall has been replaced with a more modern version. The old uncle who always served me with coffee was no longer around in the stall. Instead, there were two young chaps tending to the stall.
As I am not sure whether the coffee cost still the same at around $1.30 for hot coffee or around $1.50 for cold coffee, I enquired with the young chap the price of an iced Kopi Gao. I was shocked when he replied me while pointing to the menu that it will cost $2.60.
I politely declined the offer as $2.60 for an iced Kopi Gao from a coffeeshop was simply “too much” for me. This was especially when it used to cost me almost half the price for the same coffee from the same shop.
Also, prior to the visit of the above coffee shop, I have actually walked away from a toast and coffee chain where an iced coffee whom I thought would cost around $2.60, had risen to $3.90!
$3.90 to me for an iced coffee was also too high as for the same amount or throw in some ten cents or so, I could have a meal. And iced coffee to the knowledge of many I believe are always filled full of iced cubes with only little coffee in the cup container.
I ended up buying a can of coffee at around $1.30 from a convenience store and shrugged at the higher cost of things and food.
