Dear readers, Polytechnic and ITE staff will see a salary/pay increase of between 3.5% to 10% with effect from January 2023, as reported in a local media.
According to the report, five polytechnics and ITEs embarked on a joint review of Polytechnic and ITE salaries last year and the salary/pay revision from this year was a result of the review.
It was also reported that the previous review of Polytechnic and ITE salaries was carried out in 2020 but there was no salary revision as the review found that the salaries were in line with the market. There are currently 9,000 staff in Polytechnics and ITEs, including non-academic staff.
One polytechnic administrative staff interviewed for the media report shared that she received a 9% salary increment after this year’s salary revision which took her pay to the $6,000 plus range. She reached the salary ceiling four years ago (she has since been in service for about 10 years) and felt that the salary adjustment should have been effected earlier.
Another ITE teaching staff interview said he was satisfied with the 4% salary increment given.
Last year, staff under the Ministry of Education was also given a salary increment of between 5% to 10% in Oct 2022.
I feel happy for the polytechnic and ITE staff on the salary increments.
