Dear readers, today is a day which comes every once in four years.
That’s right! Today is the leap day of the leap year: 29 Feb 2024!
Yesterday, the Straits Times Index (STI), the barometer of Singapore stock market closed at 3,138.93, so likely the performance of the STI should be within the 3,100 to 3,200 mark.
Let us take a look at the performance of the STI on previous leap days as follows:
29 Feb 2020: Non trading day (Sat)
29 Feb 2016: 2,666.51
29 Feb 2012: 2,994.06
As we can see from the above, despite more than a decade, the STI is almost somehow on similar levels.
And I believe it is the hope of many Singapore investors that Singapore stocks markets will truly leap (pun intended) going forward!
