WHAT A PAIR OF SLIPPERS REMINDED ME ABOUT INVESTING?

Dear readers, recently, I bought a pair of slippers from a retail store. I was attracted to the purchase from the sales call from the promoters. The slippers originally cost $29.90 and was then selling at just $10. And some more, the slippers was of a certain brand. “What a bargain!” I thought and I bought the slippers, even though I was at that juncture, the only one who bought the slippers.

On recent days, I think I now realised why the slippers were not popular even though they were sold at a bargain! I started using the slippers right after the purchase and on the first few days, the slippers, as with all other pairs of new slippers, were not comfortable as they were new and they caused blisters on my feet. But slowly, my feet seemed to have adjusted to the new slippers. I was happy with my purchase, but not for long.

Soon, the weather in Singapore became much cooler with sudden intense rain. I found myself slipping or nearly slipping on certain tarmac then it now dawned on me why these slippers were not popular in the first place, even at discounted prices. I will have to buy a new pair of better slippers (with more friction) soon.

This “slippers” episode reminded me a concept of investing which I have learnt about: “Price is what you Pay, Value is what you Get.” Just with the said slippers, in my early days as an investor, I bought some Singapore penny stocks, thinking that any increase in one pip would translate into a 100% or few hundred percentage increase for the stock….most of these penny stocks had since delisted.

That’s All for my sharing related to how my slippers reminded me about investing. As it has been raining these days, I would think we investors should always be reminded to save for a rainy day. As I have always advised investors, prepare for an investment warchest to take advantages of the stock markets at the most opportune opportunities.

And, please walk carefully these days when you go out since it has been raining so heavily and intensely and the floors outside are wet. Remind your parents, siblings, friends and loved ones, especially the elderly to walk carefully when they are out outside on rainy days.

Tomorrow evening, Singapore will have a National Day show and once again, there will be festive mood right here in Singapore. I conclude today’s post with a music segment of the National Day Concert 2021 which I myself enjoyed very much! Hope you enjoy the music segment and the cool weather too! But be sure to Stay Strong, Stay Safe and Walk Carefully outside when it rains.

That’s it for my insights today.  I Thank you once again for your support of SG STOCKS INVESTING, your Money and Lifestyle magazine! Connect with me here to follow the daily exciting and useful posts on these two blogs, Thank You for your support!
