Dear readers, we have had a very volatile January 2022 in terms of stock market actions in a year where US Federal Reserves will commence the hiking of interest rates. I think the performance of stocks markets in January 2022 will set the tone of market actions for this year and that is none other than a volatile stock markets for 2022.
Amidst all the market volatilities, let us take a look at how the Singapore stocks market have performed in January 2022.
As of the last trading day last year (31 Dec 2021), the STI closed at 3,123.68.
Fast forward a one month later, the STI closed at 3,249.59 on 31 Jan 2022.
Hence, the STI managed to chalk up a 4.03% gain for 2022 to date.
The stock market volatilities in January 22, to me, are just the start of a larger stock markets corrections to the global stock markets which are long overdue.
