COVID-19 AND I: ONE NEW ROUTINE COMING UP!

Dear readers, it has been some time since I shared with readers on my updates with “living with Covid-19” as per the term used in our island. Since then, there have been yet more updates to the rules and practices in tandem with the evolving nature of Covid-19, specifically due to the Delta variant strain of Covid-19. Since living with Covid-19 has become part of our daily lives, I thought that SG Stocks Investing will not be complete without sharing my thoughts and musing on this topic.

If you recall, in my last update, I shared with readers one key change in my regular routine, over and above the safe management and distancing practices that many of us are already doing and continue to do so now. That key change was running outdoors with a mask so as to continue my jogging outdoors in this new normal.

Since then, I have gotten used to running outdoors with a mask on and have stepped up my jogging distance of about 7km per jog with a mask in less than an hour. I must emphasize to readers that jogging outdoors with a mask on is my personal choice to stay safe in our country with so many cases of Covid-19 happening around. Wearing a mask to run outdoors is not for everyone, especially if you are not young anymore. And when I jog outdoor with a mask, indeed I am really one of the only or few joggers to do so and people look at me in a surprised manner. And please believe me, wearing a mask on to jog at a decent pace makes your jog more difficult, especially when I am no longer that young any more.

I really think that in this new Covid-19 normal, everything we do in battling Covid-19 is about, like investing, risks and rewards. We take steps to minimise risks and we are rewarded for good health or at least not succumbing to Covid-19. Hence, I choose to mask on to jog outdoors!

Another very subtle change I make to my lifestyle is no longer eating out for meals but adopt take-aways. This is because beside jogging (unmasked), another risk for Covid-19 without us being masked on is when we eat outdoors. Hence to minimise, risk, I do take-aways these days. In doing take-aways, I continue to support our local hawker centre and food stall heroes in their business, especially in this current climate when they need more support.

Back to where we are currently, one new routine which I will have to adopt is to do testing on a regular basis as required since from time to time, I will need to go back to work. Regular testing is something that I will do whole-heartedly since testing will safeguard not only our health but those of our families and loved ones.

With more people to be placed on Home Recovery Programme and doing more testing on our own, I think each of us have to be even more responsible in our collective fight or living with Covid-19. We must be now responsible not only socially: masking up, adhering to safe management practices and practise good hygiene. We must now be responsible to track our own health and manage the symptoms if (touch wood) we contract Covid-19 and to seek medical help if there are some persistent adverse conditions.

Time really flies and now it is October already. I encourage every reader not to be pessimistic about Covid-19 or wait for Covid-19 to subside before starting to do the things we want or to lead lives as normal as before.

As what has been said, Covid-19 will be with us for a long time and hence definitely, there are impacts to all our lives right now but we can see whether all of us can make some starting steps to still doing the things that we want to achieve for this year and for our lives?

Okay, for some avid readers of SG Stocks Investing, maybe one of the things that you want to do this year is to wait for a good stock markets opportunity, perhaps during a stock markets crash globally in order to buy stocks at a good discount. This is also a good goal, and one which I share but for all readers, for all the goals that all readers have, my most important message to all of you is:

Stay Safe, Stay Healthy!

Take care everyone!
