I believe I cannot have a full sharing on Singapore Stocks Investing without touching on Work Life Balance. Especially since I like many of you, am a full-time employee.
As a full-time employee, one earns an employment income. And an employment income could only go higher provided one has a promotion so as to hold a higher-paying title.
But for myself, pay is just one part of the equation. The other part of the equation being time spent at work. I am a person who believes in work life balance, believing that everyone has a life outside of work to pursue after the formal working hours. As such, I prefer to look at job options as opportunities not only in just the dollar sense but also the time factor and whether the job would lead to a “burnout” or not.
As an example, I am getting busier and busier at work. And I compensate for being busier at work by being even more efficient at work. So much so that I do not mind at all to work over lunch so as to ensure that on most days, I am able to return home after clearing the tasks of the day at official close of business of the working days.
Many of us turn to employment so as to earn resources (that is monies) for our and our family’s living. And in doing so, we give one of our most valuable resources of time for our employment. So a good work life balance is really about making sure we have the balance of both these resources. For what’s good it is if we have high paying jobs but they leave us not having much time for the more important things in life?
