WHY I PLACED MONIES IN FIXED DEPOSITS IN 2019?

Dear readers, last year, I placed some monies in fixed deposits with a humble return of around 1.8% per annum return. These fixed deposits were of just one-year term. Why did I place some monies in fixed deposits last year and why did I choose only one-year fixed deposits?

The answer was simple. I wanted to have my spare liquidity earn some risk-free returns and have these liquidity return to me in the middle of this year as I predicted in 2019 that by now, the stocks markets could have undergone some significant correction.

A year now, while the global stocks markets have not corrected to the level which I predicted, there are now far more volatilities mainly from Covid-19 factored into the global stocks markets. And savings accounts are no longer attractive. Just look at the Aug 2020 Singapore Savings Bonds where the average ten-year return is just 0.93%

I am very confident that the global stocks markets corrections in more than a decade in the making will soon materialize. I am confident that those investors who are like me waiting to make monies when many investors fled will soon be rewarded!
