Dear readers, I have been avoiding my colleagues for lunch.
It is not that I am antisocial. Yes, I prefer to keep to myself and I like to muse over things and I prefer to spend the limited time on earth thinking about more important stuffs, but I am definitely not antisocial.
You see, when costs of living are already high, I have a group of colleagues who don’t mind at all to patronize restaurants when they are out for lunch.
And this means a lunch bill of easily $10 to $15 spent on usually mediocre food albeit at very nice restaurant settings. The restaurants that I patronize with them are quiet and I think for a good reason: people are simply avoiding restaurants due to the very high cost of food. Factoring in a GST of 9% and a common service charge of 10%, I think before we eat anything, be prepared to send a few bucks on these taxes and service charges already.
Compared to my lunch bills spent at the coffeeshops near my office: my lunch bills are usually $5 at most! As quick sharing, my lunch bills some years back used to be $4, but now everything, even basic food fares have gone up in prices!
Yes, I heard many are commenting about higher costs of living. And I also heard many saying its hard to save up more. But I always think we can explore when we can save a little here and a little there to save up over time!
And that means choosing cheaper meal options and having nice meals once a while to pamper ourselves.
In recent days, the weather is cooler and I resume back to sleeping without aircon, just with a fan.
Together, let us Save more each day! True, it takes discipline, but the rewards and journey of Saving our monies, whenever we can, delaying immediate gratification are really satisfying!
