Dear readers, which Sixteen Straits Times Index (STI) stocks are undervalued now? Yes, that’ right, sixteen Straits Times Index (STI) stocks which represent more than 50% of the total STI constituent stocks.
Sixteen undervalued STI stocks are not surprising to me given that the Straits Times Index is currently undervalued. If we are to take the STI ETF (ES3.SI) as a proxy to the STI, the STI is not only currently oversold, the Straits Times Index is also undervalued since the STI ETF (ES3.SI) is now trading at a Price-to-Book ratio of 0.88. And to add, the STI ETF (ES3.SI) is also trading at a modest Price-to-Earnings ratio of 8.88.
With the STI undervalued, sixteen of the STI constituent stocks are undervalued as well and these stocks (with their Price-to-Book ratios in brackets beside the names) are:
DBS stock (0.99)
Keppel Corporation stock (0.947)
CapitaMall Trust (0.94)
CapitaCommercial Trust (0.899)
Jardine C&C stock (0.858)
UOB stock (0.816)
JMH USD stock (0.524)
JSH USD stock (0.651)
OCBC stock (0.799)
City Development stock (0.705)
SIA stock (0.618)
Capitaland stock (0.595)
YangZiJiang stock (0.58)
UOL stock (0.556)
Sembcorp Industries stock (0.542)
Hongkong Land stock (0.246)
To me, these undervalued STI stocks may just be trading at a undervalued range for quite some time with the STI still hovering without meaningful gains. The evident trend for the Straits Times Index in my opinion is a downward one and who knows more STI stocks may join the above list of undervalued STI stocks.
At this current juncture, it is not attractive to invest in any of these undervalued stocks since we are not in any of the bottoms of the stocks markets to be thinking of buying these undervalued stocks on the cheap.
