WHICH COVID 19 VACCINE BOOSTER SHOT SHOULD I GET?

Dear readers, have you obtained your Covid 19 booster shot? Which Covid 19 booster shot should I get? Well, recently I have gotten my Covid 19 vaccine booster shot and I have had exactly the same questions. So, let me just share with you my experiences! First, just to highlight, I will not touch on Sinovac vaccine in this post as I am not too familiar with it.

With the lower daily Covid-19 statistics, I was of the view (prior to my Covid-19 shot) that come early next year, there may be some easing of restrictions to allow more workers to return to office. Or, on the extreme end, work-from-home (“WFM”) arrangements may no longer be a default. Hence it is with this view that as soon as I received the invitation from Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH) to receive the booster shot, I promptly scheduled for my booster jab injection so as to get myself better prepared for going back to work next year. From my understanding, MOH’s invitation  for the booster jab will come five months after the second Covid-19 jab .

In order to book for the Covid-19 booster jab, you will need to decide which of the booster you will want to take: Pfizer or Moderna? For many of us, we would be given either Pfizer (let’s call it “P”) or Moderna (let’s call it “M”) for our first two doses, so there are actually four combinations for the third booster jab as follows:

P-P-P

P-P-M

M-M-P

M-M-M

To put it more simply, the decision is for you to choose either the same Covid-19 vaccine as your first two Covid-19 vaccine doses (P-P-P or MMM) or a different one (P-P-M or M-M-P).

There have been a number of articles on which of the above four combinations will offer a better or best protection, including this article.

For me, when I was offered the first two doses of Covid-19 vaccine, there were numerous reports of Pfizer better than Moderna and vice versa. I choose Moderna for the first two doses but have no particular preference for Moderna and for my booster shot, I chose Moderna once again.

My logic is simple: despites some studies showing the efficacies of vaccine and booster mix, I prefer to use the same vaccine for my booster shot because I do not know the longer-term side effect of vaccine and booster mix, if any. So I thought I may just adhere to vaccine and booster being the same.

That’s it for my insights today.  I Thank you once again for your support of SG STOCKS INVESTING, your Money and Lifestyle magazine! Connect with me here to follow the daily exciting and useful posts on these two blogs, Thank You for your support!
