Dear readers, it was heart warming to read in today’s newspapers that a family has set up a corner outside their flat in their Blk 268 Tampines Street 21 to give out free groceries to people in need, no questions asked. Their heart-warming act was also earlier reported here. According to today’s article, some people came as far as Boon Lay to receive the free groceries and the family has spent $10,000 to date on their groceries corner.
Given how meals and food are basic necessities and occupy a large portion of our expenditure, I am not surprised that the free groceries corner is popular, especially with some of the members of the community getting hit economically by the Covid-19 pandemic.
