Dear readers, in recent months, I have been clearing my annual leaves as advised by my company’s human resources division. Like many of my colleagues, my annual leaves have accumulating ever since Covid-19 pandemic. I could have continued to accumulate my annual leaves but I really need a break from the hours and hours of staying and working from home since last year.
During my leaves, I have been going to the natural spots and shopping belts in Singapore. Natural spots are great if the weather is good else I will not advise visiting them. As for shopping belts, once a visit to these belts, while to me will do since pretty much, we have so many shopping malls in Singapore and shopping seems such a identical experience from mall to mall.
Recently, I ran out of options to go during my leave. But I made it clear to myself that I must still go out and try something different and new to make the full use of my leaves. Else, it will still be the same shopping and natural experience. And guess what, I thought of exploring the streets of Singapore which are rich in heritage, since a part of me is interested in looking at the landscape and building of Singapore in the good old days. And I settled on Joo Chiat road, since I have not been to the place for such a long time.
What I thought will be a mundane experience turned out to be so rewarding! Joo Chiat road has changed and it is amazing to see the flourishing of such a diversity and variety of different stores along Joo Chiat Road from Arts, F&B, trades and many more. I also landed in Parkway Parade where I had the good opportunity to procure some hard-found Indonesia tea from a stall specialised in Indonesia food products! I am a tea lover!
It is important to have an open Mind and try new experiences. The experiences you learn will leave you rewarded. So, if you are in doubt as to where to go, my advice is just to out and explore a place in Singapore which you have not or seldom explore before!
