Dear readers, the US stocks market closed significantly down yesterday. Dow Jones, S&P 500 and NASDAQ Composite were down respectively by 1.51%, 1.84% and 2.60%. Of special mention is the NASDAQ, as this was not the first time the index closed down by more than 2%. Just less than a week ago, on 13 Jan 2022, the NASDAQ closed 2.5%.
The performance of the US stocks markets this month definitely set the tone for a volatile January 2022 in terms of stock markets. I would also say that this month of volatile trading sets the tone for a volatile year 2022 for the stocks markets.
The main reason for the volatile stock markets will definitely be the increase of interest rates by the US Federal Reserves and this also contributed to the reason for the southing of the US stocks markets yesterday: the 10-year yield rose to a 2-year high.
For investors, I would think there are really opportunities to invest in the stock markets this year when stock markets correct to a more attractive level.
