Dear readers, I take umbrage at one thing.
First, a definition of “take umbrage” if you still are not aware. According to Merriam-Webster online dictionary, to “take umbrage” means “a feeling of pique or resentment at some often fancied slight or insult”.
I took umbrage just this Wednesday (5 May 2021) when I went to a hawker centre in Bedok South. The coffee stall selling better coffee in the hawker centre was closed and hence I ordered my daily fix of coffee from another stall which I had not patronised before. I paid $1 for the coffee and after drinking a sip of the coffee, I took umbrage at the quality of the coffee.
The coffee was not worth my $1. Of course, I did not expect the coffee to taste like the No.1 coffee in Singapore at Blk 216 Bedok North (you can read here for more details ), but this quality of coffee that I drank last Wednesday was really sub-standard: it was very diluted.
I took umbrage at the coffee I drank last Wednesday and decided not to patronise the stall again. Given a choice, I will drink kopi gao from Kim Hwa coffee every day without fail and for just $1 as the coffee is just not only very best, Kim Kwa coffee is a Soulful coffee: it invigorates your soul, activates your energy and makes you go ready steady charged for the day! I really hope Kim Hwa stall will continue to serve such high standard coffee for all of us for many many years to go!
That is why, on the days of this default work-from-home period where I still need to go back office on some days for work, you will find me drinking Kim Hwa coffee in early mornings before I head back to my office, ready for the challenge of the day!
