Dear readers, as the year 2021 comes to a close, let me reveal the three major developments for the stock markets of year 2021 in my opinion.
First, Chinese stocks, be they listed on the US stock exchange or on the China markets have been very volatile. The regulations by the Chinese authorities on Chinese stocks from TAL, AliBaba and many more have resulted in the stock prices of these Chinese stocks becoming very volatile instead.
Second, raising of interest rates by the US Federal Reserves. Finally, there will be a raising of interest rates, to be carried out in tranches next year.
Third, but not least, the global stock markets have not had a major financial meltdown that was last noted in Year 2009, but I am of the view that the risks of a financial meltdown is increasing with the US Federal Reserves’ increasing of interest rates, coupled with the volatilities of the stock markets at large, including the Covid-19 developments.
