Dear readers, just into the second week of the first month of a brand new year, I already had my to-do-list filled up longer and longer!
I have already expected this hectic workload and this was the reason why I took many days of leaves and enjoyed myself as much as I could last December and even in last November, before this high tempo at work.
In work, I turn on my full working capacity, each and every day trying hard to complete as much work as possible during office hours. This is because I treasure my downtime, after office hours to rest and to have time for my family and other commitments in life. And this is why, during lunch hours, I only try my best to join lunch groups as seldom as I could. Many of the lunch groups end up with me passively listening to gossips and draining me off my valuable energy with useless chatter. But I could not reject every lunch group every time else I will end up being perceived as anti-social.
I hate to have valuable energy drained off. I reserve my valuable energy for the more important work and people in my life.
More often than not, overtime work has now become a regular stable in my work life. This is inevitable and is often the case when one reaches a certain seniority at work.
I try not to think too much of the rewards, promotions in my work and try my very best to focus on the journey and the opportunity to learn new things daily. To me, time is more important than money in life.
I always believe at work, one should do one’s best so as not to have our already very limited time on earth wasted, especially so when many of us are already spending so much of our lives each day on work.
I think I in generally am painting a very common picture of the many hardworking employees here in Singapore, overworked and tired.
And this is why, I always believe we should not anyhow spend too much of our hard-earned monies which we earn through sweat and sometimes, tears.
