STRAITS TIMES INDEX (STI) STOCK: TOP WEEKLY GAINERS AND LOSERS

Dear readers, today is the start of another brand-new trading week. The global stock markets started off the new year with a positive note only for volatilities to set in in the last week of January 2021. The volatilities have caused the Straits Times Index to give up some of its gains. Let us take a look at the top weekly Straits Times Index (STI) gainer and loser stocks for the week ended 29 January 2021.

The top three STI stocks with the largest weekly gains are:

Keppel DC Reit: 4.93%

Thai Beverages stock: 3.12%

Hongkong Land : 0.65%

The bottom three STI stocks with the largest weekly losses are:

Sembcorp Industries stock: -6.78%

Jardine C&C stock: -7.27%

Keppel Corporation stock: -11.17%

Two of the worst-performing weekly STI stocks last week are Singapore offshore and energy conglomerate stocks in Sembcorp Industries stock and Keppel Corporation stock. The performance of Keppel Corporation stock has really to do with the 7% dive in the company’s stock price last Friday after Keppel Corporation announced that it would exit the rig business and pivot to clean energy.
