Dear readers, in this post let us compare the performance of three Singapore-based ETFs. These are LION-PHILLIP S-REIT, PHILLIP SING INCOME ETF and STI ETF (ES3.SI).
STI ETF (ES3.SI) should not be unfamiliar to readers on SG Stocks Investing as it is often mentioned. This STI ETF tracks the Singapore stocks market benchmark, the Straits Times Index, though it is not the only ETF to track the Straits Times Index. The Nikko AM STI ETF is the other STI ETF.
Next, we have the Phillip Sing Income ETF. This ETF focuses on 30 Singapore listed stocks with a focus on Financials (39.1%), Reit (17.45%) and Commercial Services (16.03%). You can find more information about the ETF here .
Last but not least, the Lion-Phillip S-REIT ETF which allows investors to invest in selected Singapore Reits. You can find more information about the ETF here .
With the Straits Times Index rebounding from the 23 March 2020 lows, I thought it is a timely comparison among the three ETFs.
First, the STI ETF (ES3.SI) traded at $2.24 on 23 Mar 2020 and closed at $2.73 on 12 Jun 2020 which translated into a 21.82% increase.
Second, the Phillip Sing Income ETF traded at $0.76 on 23 Mar 2020 and closed at $0.96 on 12 Jun 2020 which translated into a 25.79% increase.
And finally, the Lion-Phillip S-REIT ETF traded at $0.78 on 23 Mar 2020 and closed at $1.05 on 12 Jun 2020 which translated into a 35.35% increase.
From the above results, we can infer Lion-Phillip S-REIT ETF has delivered the best performance. I believe it is due to investors who like to invest at discounted prices and would like to have the assurance of high dividends in Reits during this uncertain economical background.
Also, the Phillip Sing Income ETF delivers better performance than the STI ETF during the above period though the performance is not significantly better.
