STOCKS MARKETS FOR 2020: WHAT’S NEXT?

Dear readers, Year 2019 is coming to a close soon and with that the closing of yet another year for the stocks markets. Reviewing Year 2019, I believe investors will concur with just one point which I am going to make as follows: the global stocks markets do not “crash”; there is no financial or stocks markets meltdown despite many saying that a global stocks markets correction is in the making since it has been almost a decade when the stocks markets last corrected. And they are still saying.

Yes, despite all the volatilities which set in mainly in the second half of Year 2019, the stocks markets in general still managed to perform just okay. The main volatilities which we saw this year included the US-China trade wars, the North Korea and US relationships, Federal Reserves interest rate hikes as well as the just-concluded Brexit.

Going forward to Year 2020, I am still of the view that investors would still need to be prepared for a corrections in the global stocks markets. This is because there is nothing in the world which will keep going up and up. Same as with the stocks markets. Ever since Donald Trump was elected as the US President, the US stocks markets have been heading up. Hence I am interested in the US Election next year to see how the one of the biggest economy will continue to shape the global stocks markets and economy, be it with Donald Trump re-elected or not.
