Dear readers, September is generally not a good month for equities, as past data show. Coupled with the track record of September, I have also shared with readers in an earlier post before that the longer-term correction of the Singapore stocks markets has started and the confluence of the two will lead September to be a bearish market for investors.
It is hence not a surprise to me that the US stocks markets declined notably yesterday:
Dow Jones Index: -1.63%
S&P 500: -2.04%
NASDAQ Composite: -2.83%
The reason for the decline, as what I have read is due to “taper tantrum”.
But be it “taper tantrum”, or fallouts from China Evergrande episode, I believe stock markets are beyond what they should at, in the midst of a Covid-19 pandemic. A correction to the stocks markets will be good to correct prices at a more attractive level for investors.
