Dear readers, I am not sure whether you have noticed that Singapore skies are quite hazy these days? I can feel and smell the haze even though throughout the days, the 24-hour PSI of the hazy skies do not cross the “Unhealthy” range. The Eastern part of Singapore has been most affected with the 24-hour PSI the highest of the different regions in Singapore.
The haze makes the already warm and humid weather here even more uncomfortable. The haze seems to trap the urban heat and at times I feel quite giddy. Not to mention that I have been drinking lots of water these days to cope with the unbearable effects of the haze.
No doubt the haze that we have been getting are still in the “Moderate” range based on PSI (51 to 100) and not in the “Unhealthy” range. But to me, if we smell and feel the haze and feel not comfortable, then it is a point of concern already.
I searched online and discovered that reasons cited for the recent haze in Singapore skies are due to ozone formation, local and regional forest fires and the dry season climate that affects Singapore and the region right now.
I have not donned on my jogging shoes in recent weeks for a good jog due to the haze. I recommend every one to take good care of your health in these moderately hazy days.
