Dear readers, the Singapore Budget 2025 will be announced on 18 Feb 2025.
This year is where Singapore will hold its General Election. Hence, Singapore Budget 2025 is often described as an Election Year Budget.
The Budget Day will still be held in the 1st Chinese Lunar Year month as were previous Budgets. Hence it is also appropriate to call Singapore Budget 2025 as a Chinese New Year Budget.
I think many Singaporeans are expecting support from Singapore Budget 2025 which will help defray the high costs of living here in Singapore, beside just giving another round of vouchers.
While I look forward to the aforementioned measures, for Singapore Budget 2025, I am in particularly looking at measures that may better help the investments of Singaporeans.
My expectations are not without a basis: the government is currently reviewing measures to prop up the lacklustre Singapore stocks markets. I believe it is likely that a key strategy to boost the local bourse may be announced in Singapore Budget 2025.
I imagine a Special Discounted Shares (SDS) Scheme where Singapore investors can buy good Singapore stocks at a discount, just like for Singtel stocks in 1993 and 1996.
Read about my musing here and find out which stock I would recommend to be under the SDS scheme!
