The September 2019 Singapore Savings Bonds is up for application. After a rather more humble returns from the August 2019 Singapore Savings Bond () as compared to previous tranches, will there be a better return for investors for the September 2019 Singapore Savings Bonds issue?
First, as a recap, the trances of the Singapore Savings Bonds before the August 2019 issue pays in general an annualized return of around 2.10% or slightly more if one is to hold the bonds for the full ten years. The Aug 2019 Singapore Savings Bonds has been quite disappointing for investors since it pays the lowest first-year return at 1.68% while the annualized return over a 10-year period at 2.01% is lower than its previous tranches. But what I have actually noticed from the marked-down of the returns of Aug 2019 Savings Bonds was that this mark-down somehow also corresponds with the Federal Reserves reducing of interest rates.
Now, let us go back to the September 2019 Singapore Savings Bonds. Without much surprise to me, the September tranche of the Savings Bonds pays even lower annualized return than the August 2019 tranche. The first-year return of the September 2019 Savings bonds is 1.65% while over the 10-year holding period, the annualized return is at 1.95%. I am subscribed to the maximum allotment amount for individuals for Singapore Savings Bonds, with the bulk of my subscription in the previous tranches. I have taken the opportunity of the higher returns back there. Looking at the lower returns of the Savings Bonds now, I am grateful to have applied for the bonds once returns are higher. This just go to prove once again that when opportunities present themselves to us, we must take quick action.
