Dear readers, how time flies! We are into Day 7 of the Chinese New Year today.
Day 7 of Chinese New Year is also called Ren Ri or the birthday of everyone!
Now that we are settled into the 1st half of the Chinese New year period, I find that it is timely to review my experience of Pre Chinese New Year food orders, which are pretty chaotic!
On the day before the eve of Chinese New Year, I ordered Zi Char takeaways and was shocked to read that I was charged for eggs for my 3 packets of mees and fried rice. The food stall aunty told me that the eggs accompany the rice and mees.
What was incredulous was that when I went through the food orders upon reaching home, I saw that the 3 packets of mee and fried rices were not my order at all! These were different mees and fried rices from what I have ordered. Trust me, it was not easy to tell the contents of the rice and mee during the bringing of these meals home as the steam from the food cloud the front cover of the styrofoam.
And it was even strange that the mees and rice came with an omelet egg each which is not a natural combination.
I believe that I was not only overcharged at being given a wrong order but I am not sure whether the stall assistant also had some creative reasons to charge more for the omelet eggs.
Anyway, it was before Chinese New Year when many are busy preparing for Chinese New Year and for some, preparing to head back home from Singapore. It was a busy and messy period and I am okay to unwittingly pay more if that was the case due to the stall assistant becoming overwhelmed etc.
Anyway, I still paid an okay price and still had my food.
