Dear readers, how have you been? Today is Friday and weekends are final here!
I have been looking forward to weekends as I have been working non-stop, long hours, without hardly a break since last December, all because of an important project. I will still be working over weekends, as usual, but at least by virtue of weekends, that means I do not need to be at my work laptop for all hours, unlike weekdays! So, let us treasure our weekends!
I hope you have had your lunch and have had a good lunch. Talking about food, recently I was shocked at how I was being charged for a take-away mixed vegetable rice. No, it not talking about inflation.
Usually, I paid a good $2.90 for a one-meat, 2-vegetable mixed vegetable rice.
Yesterday, after choosing 1 vegetable, 1 steamed egg with meat and 1 meat, I was asked to pay $4.40. Before I paid, due to the fact that I did not understand how this dish was $4.40 (though I knew that the steamed egg with meat will be counted as meat), I asked the stall assistant for clarification. The stall supervisor came, opened the packet of mixed vegetable rice and explained patiently that the vegetable is counted as a meat dish as it contain “meat”.
Back home, when I had my meal, I found no “meat” for the vegetable except for a small small prawn. So this is the additional 70 cent more for a meat dish? Just for a small small prawn?
After yesterday’ incident, I reminded myself to be more careful when selecting those meals from mixed vegetable rice stall. This is not the first and definitely not the last that I will be charged meat dish price with the perception that I am choosing a vegetable dish. I encourage everyone to ask in advance lest experiencing the same experience as me.
In today’s current climate of high prices, every dollar counts. Every dollar saved is every dollar earned!
