Dear readers, I believe all of us are familiar with the term “Year of Assessment”.
Many of us come across this term when we view the document from IRAS bearing the quantum of the income taxes that we need to pay in the year.
But there is also another year of assessment related to our pay that has commenced two weeks ago, with effect from 1 Jan 2024!
And that is the fresh new year where many of us employees will be assessed in terms of our work performance for the year.
I still see quite a number of colleagues still lost in time, thinking that the current moment is still the festive Christmas period of last year and hence they are still merry-making, without much focus on the work.
This is inevitable: the December period of the year is the most festive and cherished part of the year. Moreover, the wet and cool rainy season makes the period even more inviting.
Year 2024 has commenced and it is another year, a restart in being assessed for our work performance once again!
So, let us all (readers who are employees like myself), buckle up and start to work hard, work smart and work well towards even greater contributions at work!
