ONE OVERSOLD SINGAPORE STRAITS TIMES INDEX (STI) INTO YEAR 2021

Dear readers, today is the first day of Year 2021. I wish you and your family a Happy New Year 2021 filled with health, joy and prosperity.

Let us take a look at where Singapore stocks stood yesterday, the last day (also trading day) for year 2020. The benchmark indicator for Singapore stocks, the Straits Times Index (STI) closed at 2,843.81, down 0.9% for yesterday’s trading session. This 2,843.81 will be sealed off as the performance of the STI for year 2020.

Similarly, based on the performance of the STI stocks yesterday (31 Dec 20), we have going into the new year 2021 the following overbought STI stocks:

a) Mapletree Industrial Trust

b) Mapletree Logistic Trust

c) Wilmar International

There is one oversold STI stock going into Year 2021. This STI stock, oversold as at 31 Dec 20 is none other than HongKong Land stock.

HongKong Land stock currently trades at a price-to-book ratio of 0.271, very undervalued indeed and a dividend yield of 5.28%. Again, the screening of oversold stocks regularly here on SG Stocks Investing is to assess the Singapore stocks markets and for this round here, assess the overbought and oversold STI stocks going into Year 2021.
