Dear readers, I was at my favourite Bak Chor Mee stall recently. After making my orders, I asked the Bak Chor stall assistant on whether the stall accepts the CDC vouchers.
Before I go any further in this post, just a recap, the government has recently given each household $250 CDC vouchers for use to buy groceries and $250 for use on supermarket items.
The stall assistant said that the stall does not accept CDC vouchers and reluctantly, I paid for the Bak Chor Mee.
As I was making my payment via cash, I glanced and saw that another neighbouring stall accepts CDC vouchers.
I do not have the formal statistics, but a quick check at where I have been to, indicates to me that it seems that fewer heartland stalls and shops participate in the CDC voucher schemes!
If what I have noticed is accurate, then it is ironical that the number of merchants participating in the CDC voucher scheme does not increase with the quantum of the CDC vouchers.
I appreciate the $500 CDC vouchers as they do definitely help offset the high cost of living here notwithstanding that this amount can be spent quite fast in this climate of high cost.
