I think this latest promotion from OCBC is an attractive one as it translates into a 1.70% per annum return which is higher than the 1.52% per annum return for the January 2020 Singapore Savings bonds or the 1.54% per annum February 2020 Singapore Savings bond. And the good thing is that savers receive the interest in the form of the NTUC Fairprice vouchers with just a six-month holding period.
This is not the first time OCBC has such a Chinese New Year promotion. Last time, OCBC’s Chinese New Year 2019 promotion offered $110 worth of NTUC Fairprice vouchers for every SGD $10,000 fresh funds deposited into any OCBC Savings accounts (which is effectively a 2.20% per annum returns) and I had participated in the promotions back then.
Thjs time round, I had less liquidity to deploy into OCBC Deposits since most of my capital has been deployed to form a “war chest” which will be activated once the stocks markets present the most opportune time for investing.
