MY FIRST SIMPLYGO TRANSACTION

Dear readers, I believe by now, many of you would have heard of the SimplyGo mode of transportation for getting around our buses and MRT. I was not a fan of SimplyGo since as a traditional kind of person, I would prefer to see exactly how much I have paid for my trips using my EZ link card.

There is a slot at the rear of my wallet in which I slotted my Ezlink card and this made it convenient to tap on the fare readers without taking the card out.

In recent weeks, however, it seems that the fare readers have become more sensitive as in some of my bus and train commute, the readers tried to deduct unsuccessfully from my bank card as SimplyGo. I meant I was aware of these first few unsuccessful transactions as I was notified by the SMS messages from my bank.

Subsequently, all seem to work well as the fares seem to be deducted from my Ezlink: amount of the trip was shown upon the exit.

However, I was shocked when I checked my bank transactions yesterday that there was a successful transaction via SimplyGo from my bank account! I could not recall noticing a SimplyGo transaction in my recent trips and this must have meant one thing: there was a multiple deduction for one of my recent trips: via SimplyGo and Ezlink.

The amount deducted was around $1.70 and for this amount, it is no point going to Transit office to ask for a refund. The lesson from all this is to simply take out my Ezlink card for future use!
