Dear readers, in recent years, the cost of living in Singapore has become higher and I believe many of you would have agreed with me.
For myself, indeed, I have spent more on daily basic necessities as per what I have gleaned from my daily expenditure spreadsheet.
With hotter weather these days, I am budgeting for a higher spend on my utilities, arising from higher usage of electricity for air-conditioning and water.
Nights without air-conditioning these days is also unthinkable as my skin will itch and I will sweat if I were to off my air-conditioning.
Also in the past, I do not have the practice of switching my aircon on during the day. But I have to switch on the aircon these days as it has become very stuffy and humid at home without aircon in the day.
Air-conditioners are electricity guzzlers and hence I believe I am going to see higher electricity bills these months.
Same goes for my water bills: I have been drinking more and making more ice cubes to cool down water. As I use an electric kettle, the electricity used will increase as well from more use of the electric kettle.
Airconditioning seems a basic need for us in this hot weather, hence I will reckon my expenditure on air-conditioning as spending on basic needs!
