It is really a historic moment as investors and non-investors will learn first-hand live on the thoughts of Warren Buffet in regard to his company Berkshire Hathaway, the stocks markets and the economy in general beside joining in the Berkshire Hathaway AGM.
As an avid investor, I have read many investing books including the teachings from Warren Buffet. The two nuggets of teaching which always resonate with me are his famous rules of investing. They are Rule 1: Never Lose your capital. Rule 2: Don’t forget Rule 1. Same as the concept of economic moat.
As for Warren’s teaching of value investing, I am not really a believer. Since today’s business landscape is a disruptive one where strong companies may become obsolete and good fundamentals may deteriorate no matter how well-researched assumptions.
Instead, my strategy which I always advocate will be to form the bulk of one’s portfolio in index funds like the STI ETF or its overseas counterparts at one of the stock market bottoms. It has been documented that many fund managers often could not beat the performance of an index fund over time. Thereafter, one could then deploy the remaining of one’s portfolio into stocks with potential of multi-bagger.
Notwithstanding what I believe, it is really a rare opportunity to be up close and personal with Warren Buffet from the comforts of our home and be part of the audience at Berkshire Hathaway AGM!
