Dear readers, the much-anticipated May 2024 Singapore Savings Bonds, SBMay24, GX24050X is announced today!
And surprised or not surprised, the average 10-year annual return of the bond is, as expectedly, around 3% per year: to be precise, at 3.04% per annum.
In terms of the annual yields, Year 1 to Year 6 of the savings bonds offers 2.99% per annum each, thereafter the annual interest rates for Year 7 onwards are stepped up as follows:
Year 7: 3.03%
Year 8: 3.20%
Year 9 and Year 10: 3.27% each
I don’t have any special comment for May 24 Singapore Savings Bonds as they are at best, average. But we must appreciate the fact that long-term interest rates may possibly be lower than 3% per annum in time to come too.
