Dear readers, the May 2020 Singapore Savings Bonds (SSB) is up for subscription.
The interest rate of May 2020 SSB for Year 1 to Year 10 with the average interest per annum in bracket is below.
Year 1: 0.96% (0.96%)
Year 2: 0.96% (0.96%)
Year 3: 1.01% (0.98%)
Year 4: 1.28% (1.05%)
Year 5: 1.43% (1.13%)
Year 6: 1.46% (1.18%)
Year 7: 1.57% (1.23%)
Year 8: 1.68% (1.29%)
Year 9: 1.79% (1.34%)
Year 10: 1.91% (1.39%)
The first-year 0.96% interest is one of the lowest in recent years. While January 2017 Singapore Savings Bonds has a first-year 0.91% interest, January 2017 Singapore Savings Bonds has an overall average 10-year return of 2.18% more than the 1.39% for May 2020 Singapore Savings Bonds.
In fact, the average 10-year return of 1.39% of May 2020 SSB is the lowest in the history of Singapore Savings Bonds.
Well, we are in the current times like these, hence there is no surprise at all for me of these low interest rates.
