Dear readers, Luckin Coffee will open in Tampines One shopping centre! That’s right, the oft-called Starbucks of China will open in the east of Singapore, in Tampines after stores in other parts of Singapore like Marina Square and Suntec City.
I was passing by Tampines One shopping centre recently when I saw that renovation was ongoing and the temporary renovation covering walls had the announcement that Luckin Coffee will open in mid May 2023, which is this month!
I first came across Luckin Coffee when it first listed in the US some years back. Though eager to invest in the Starbuck of China stock, I eventually held off. I was glad that I had done so as the stock had since then experienced its share of less than positive developments: delisting etc (you can read more here).
I have been excited that Luckin Coffee has opened in Singapore as I have always wanted to try the coffee ever since the company expanded to the US. I was at the Marina Square branch in recent weeks but did not purchase the coffee as I understand that purchase is done via apps and I did not have the app installed.
I believe I will try the coffee one day and share with you readers on whether it is worth your monies! Just like what I have been sharing when I have tasted good coffee!
For now, almost everyday, I am drinking coffee at just 50 cents per cup! Yes, 50 cents per cup!
You may wonder how amidst this hight inflation environment, a cup of coffee can cost only 50 cents per cup? Well, this can only be through a promotion. Yes, that is right, as part of Labour Day celebration, Kopitiam is offering 50 cents per cup coffee for NTUC members for the month of May 23. I tried the 50 cents coffee and I can only say for stronger and less sweet versions of the coffee, I ordered Coffee Tilok and the taste normally does not fail me.
I need strong coffee for the various tasks of the day! I wish you a happy and restful weekends!
