KOPITIAM FAIRPRICE: $1 SIGNATURE BREAKFAST SET (AUG 24)

Dear readers, in celebration of Singapore’s 59th birthday, Fairprice Kopitiam is offering the Signature Breakfast set at just $1 for all NTUC Union Members! The signature breakfast set comprises 2 toasts, 2 eggs and 1 hot drink

To enjoy the offer, NTUC Union Members will have to present their physical or digital NTUC card upon order.

However, I would like to highlight that to redeem this $1 signature breakfast set, one cannot pay via cash. One has to make payment at Kopitiam via the FairPrice Group app by adding voucher “UNIONAUGKSBF” to enjoy the offer

I learnt of the above the hard way. Upon learning the $1 meal deals, I made my way to Kopitiam, ready to enjoy my $1 breakfast set when I overheard the required payment via the app while queuing. I went over to confirm on the app requirement with the cashier. As I do not have the app, I left and feel relieved for not having to wait too long in the queue.

Though I did not enjoy the meal, I believe the $1 meal is a good gesture by NTUC Fairprice.

On the other hand, I really hope that Income Singapore will not be sold off to Allianz. I have worked hard all my life and bought insurances from NTUC Fairprice rather than other commercial insurance firms as I believe in the social mission of NTUC and have the trust in the company for ensuring the insurances I bought with my hard-earned monies will be in reasonable and fair. Once Allianz takes overs as the majority stakeholder, notwithstanding what Income Singapore and Allianz are saying in regard to keeping premiums and policies reasonable and affordable, Income Singapore (former name is NTUC Income) is fundamentally a different company already: it is no different than other commercial insurance firms.

As I have repeatedly suggested, if Income Singapore needs a boost of funding, let us get GIC and Temasek Holdings in, rather than Allianz: I believe this will close off not only a disappointing and demoralizing episode for many Income Singapore policyowners like myself but it will also be a gesture that will be highly appreciated by not only policyowners but Singaporeans in general. Could you imagine GIC and Temasek giving its support for Income Singapore? This will give Income Singapore a even better branding and most importantly standing, as the company retains its symbiotic relationship with NTUC and has the financial support and backing of GIC or Temasek, two globally renowned financial institutions.
