KING ALBERT PARK HILLVIEW RAIL CORRIDOR: HOW TO GO AND HAVE A GOOD TIME IN TEN STEPS?

Dear readers, if you are looking for directions to go to the 4km rail corridor between King Albert Park MRT station and Hillview MRT station, you have come to the correct place! In this post, I am going to show you a step-by-step guide on not just how to go to the rail corridor but also to share with you tips on how to make your rail corridor trek a fulfilling one!

Step 1: Take the MRT train and stop at King Albert Park MRT station.

I think the first question you may have in mind is where to start your rail corridor trek? To start from King Albert Park or Hillview? Well, my recommendation is to start from King Albert Park and end off your trek at Hillview. The reasons for this will become apparent when you reach towards the end of this post. Without further ado, my guided sharing is below.

Step 2: Exit from exit A and upon exit, turn left so that you are heading in the direction of a condominium called The Sterling

Step 3: Keep walking till you see the famous King Albert Park Truss Bridge

Step 4: Once you see the Truss Bridge, you will also see an overhead bridge near the Truss Bridge. Do not climb onto the overhead bridge for it will not lead you to the Truss Bridge. However, to begin your rail corridor trek, you must get yourself onto the Truss Bridge.

Step 5: At first glance, there seems to be no ready path to get to the Truss Bridge. At this point, do not panic or give up. There is some sandy pathway on your left (in direction of the ongoing traffic) to bring you to the Truss Bridge. Make your way up the pathway and you will soon get to near the Truss Bridge.

Step 6: Congratulations on making your way up and near the Truss Bridge! From here, there are two directions to go. Direction 1: Cross the Truss Bridge and head down. Direction 2: Do not Cross the Truss Bridge and head down (in another direction of course).

Step 7: Choose Direction 2 first. You will see the old railway station and remember to take some photos there. If you continue to walk in Direction 2, you will not be proceeding to Hillview MRT station but towards Holland Village. Just few months or so, I have taken Direction 2 and the railway corridor to Holland Village was not fully refurbished yet (hence I had to stop my trek halfway). However, Direction 2 will enable you a glimpse of the famous Clementi Forest at some point of your trek if you would like to venture a little before going back to Direction 1.

Step 8: Go in Direction 1 for trek to Hillview. The trek to Hillview will take about an hour to complete on a leisure pace. The terrain is smooth and good and can be recommended for individuals of all ages. Do take note of the cyclists though, they can appear from nowhere at some speeds. So if possible, keep to either side.

Step 9: As you make the trek, you will realise that this trek will not completely take you off from human civilisation for a total destress as there is a parallel road running by the trek most of the times. But this actually keep the trek safe and also the likelihood of running into monkeys or wild boars is low.

Step 10: As you enjoy your trek, soon you will reach another Truss Bridge and give yourself a pat on your back! For you have reached Hillview! And now is the reason to reveal why I have recommended you to make this your stop. You will see a downward slope near Hillview Truss Bridge. Go down the slope and be greeted like a number of cafes like the famous SpringLeaf Prata cafe. There is even a Cat Café in one of the shophouses there for Cat Lovers to have refreshments and beverages while patting a cat!

There’s all folks, I will share more with you on the next trip to another nature corridor of Singapore!
