Dear readers, welcome to another blog post on Singapore Inflation watch.
This post is a series of posts which I have categorised under “Inflation watch” where I share with readers, the higher cost of living that I have experienced on a day to day basis.
For today, let me share the price of roasted chicken.
Like many Singaporeans, I love roasted chicken. By “roasted chicken”, I mean the chicken that is roasted in hawker and food centres, that is the same chicken, one would have for their common plate of chicken rice.
At times, I will buy one roasted chicken from hawker centre stalls, to have it sliced up as meals for my family and I.
In recent months, based on my experience, a whole roasted chicken costs around $30 to $33, used to be around $24 to $26 from my recollection.
The price of a half spring chicken, is now $16, it used to be $11 to $12, in my memory.
Meals outside are indeed getting more pricier and some of the time, the portion of meals dished out has also shrank.
It can be demoralising to savers, but I believe one should just press on with savings since every cent saved is every cent earned.
